Building and Grounds

The Building and Grounds Committee is seeking more people to join them in order to help prioritize the work projects and help set policies for the building.  We meet the third Monday of every month at 6:30 P.M.

Development Committee

*I hope you are using your Entertainment Books and saving money.  Last Saturday, my family and I went to the Tigers game.  Before the game we had lunch at Leo’s Coney Island connected to Comerica Park.  I saved $14.00.

*On the 16th and 17th of May we will have the garage sale.  Please call if you can help with sales and moving things in and out of the garage.  We also need shoppers!  There is a nice round table with four captains chairs, an antique standing ash tray, health rider, computer stool or chair, many Ann Taylor size 14 clothes, vintage fur coat and black felt hat and three bikes just to name a few items.

*I still have a few tickets to see Cheat at the Detroit Repertory Theatre on Saturday, June 7th at 3:00 P.M.  The tickets are $15.00 each and it is a church fundraiser.          Margaret Beck 313-882-7775

DO YOU LIVE ALONE?

If you live alone and have someone, a neighbor or family member, who is usually aware of your state of being, giving the church their name and number could prove helpful. If we have a situation where we are unable to contact you and become worried, we normally have no way to check on you. If you would like to provide this alternative contact, please call Wendy or Larry at the church office—833-9107.

Women’s Alliance

The May meeting of Women’s Alliance will commence with noon luncheon in Memorial Hall on Wednesday, May 21, 2003.  Our guest speaker will be Millie Jeffrey.  The topic is "State v City: Who Runs the City?”  Make reservations for the luncheon by the prior Monday noon, the 19th by phoning the church office at 313-833-9107.

Women’s Book Club

The June meeting of the Women’s Book Club will be on Sunday, June 1.  We will be discussing Margaret Atwood’s Edible Woman.  We will be meeting at Sinbad’s restaurant at 11:30 A.M.  The price of the brunch buffet is $14.95.  Carol Izant has a van and is willing to provide a ride to and from the church/restaurant for anyone who needs one.  Please call Maria Majer at 313-899-1694 to let her know if you will be there (so we will know how large a table to request) and to inform her if you will be needing a ride.

We Get Mail

From Helen Riebling…”To all the dear, thoughtful, kind and loving friends for the lovely Easter thoughts and wishes, thank you.  You are truly very special!  In this hectic, chaotic state of our world, it is very heartwarming and morale building to have the support of great friends like you!  You truly bring meaning to church family.  I wish I could address you individually, but I think you understand why I can’t.  I wish each and every one of you the best Easter and many more in good health and spirits.”
